How to get here
We are an hour and a half’s drive from either Toulouse or Carcassonne airports and two hours from the lesser known Rodez (Ryan Air). We are happy to pick you up from these airports as long as our car is big enough! We suggest, though, that a car is the best way to take advantage of the area and to get around. Obviously there is car hire at the airports or you can hire one locally in Castres.

Child Friendliness
As has already been mentioned we have a lot of baby/child equipment, cots, highchairs, booster seats, bottle warmer etc. In addition we can have a supply of nappies and formula on hand as well, although it is worth mentioning that in France most of the formulas well known to UK families are not available. If your child is particularly fond of one certain brand check with us whether we can find it over here. Ready to go baby food is in plentiful supply or you can do it yourself as we have both a mouli and a hand blender ready for your use. There is a health food shop is Castres and organic food is increasingly found in the supermarkets.
Our two year old boys have plenty of things your children can borrow; sandpit, paddling pool, small trampoline, tractors galore, books, crayons, paper, tricycles and the like, we are not particularly well stocked with Barbie or child audio visual stuff, but we are working on it!
If you fancy some time off we can arrange to baby sit , or baby listen depending on the time of day and your child’s/children’s needs.
Other Services
If you don’t feel like cooking it can be done for you! A picnic, a simple supper or a three course meal, served al fresco or in the gîte; you decide. Just give us twenty four hours notice. We generally buy local produce and can cater for your dietary needs. Please note that gluten free products are not easily available, it would be wise to bring such things with you, our local bakery needs a week’s notice to supply gluten free bread.
Health
Don’t forget your E111s, a trip to a GP will cost you about 20 Euros, hospital trips and treatments vary. Prescription medicine is charged at retail price. These fees are refundable with an E111. Let’s hope it is not necessary but should you need one there are a number of helpful and sympathetic doctors in the village, one, we’re told speaks English, although we cannot guarantee that! We speak enough French to help you if required; there is also an English speaking dentist nearby. More details here.
Pets
If you want to bring the family pet, please feel free but be aware that it is not customary to neuter cats and dogs in France, consequently there are a number of uncastrated pets in the hamlet, that said none of them are aggressive and all are used to small children (nervous adults!)
